Located in the heart of the sun-soaked Mojave Desert, and just 30-minutes outside of Las Vegas, Primergy developed Gemini, a 690 MWac solar + 380 MW 4-hour battery energy storage project located on federal land managed by the BLM in Clark County, Nevada. The project is carefully sited and generates enough clean, reliable energy to power approximately 10 percent of Nevada’s peak power demand. Gemini is the largest co-located solar plus battery energy storage project operating in the US, providing a consistent, dispatchable energy resource specifically designed to support Nevada’s peak energy demands. The size, scale and integration of battery storage makes Gemini one of the most sophisticated clean energy projects ever developed.
Sourcing supplies and labor from local businesses, Gemini supported approximately 1,300 union and prevailing wage jobs during construction, and added up to $463 million in economic development value to Nevada’s economy.
The power generated by this project goes directly to the grid in Las Vegas and beyond, supplying affordable, clean energy for residents and businesses, and reducing pollution and emissions in the county.
Gemini features a battery energy storage system that provides a consistent, dispatchable energy resource designed to ensure that power needs are met during peak demand in Clark County. This state-of-the-art system can store up to 1,400 MWh of power, to provide Nevadans with clean, reliable power after sundown.
